An indigo-colored folding screen (屏風) is displayed in the Japanese room (和室). The folding screen's theme was inspired by the front road name "Takoyakushi-dori", in Japanese "tako" means "octopus".
This theme, called "Hipparidako", has for meaning to wish good health and happiness for the people residing in the house.
The name “Takoyakushi” road, takes its origin in the name of Yakushinyorai (the medicine Buddha) of Eifuku temple. Since the age of Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1537-1598), the temple is renowned for healing illness.
